Chloe aged 31 suffered an adverse reaction to a Covid-19 vaccine which made her pre existing condition unmanagable

Chloe

Chloe was thriving before the vaccine. She was engineer working 40-60 hours a week and spent her spare time training and competing as an international power-lifter and taking long hikes with her dog, Bella.

Just three hours after her vaccination, Chloe experienced totally unprecedented issues with her previously stable neurological condition. Everything that had previously helped her manage her condition no longer worked, and her pain was out of control.

She also started experiencing fatigue so severe that she slept 20 hours a day for six months. Fatigue is not a side effect of the medication Chloe was on or her prior condition.

“I was sleeping 20 out of 24 hours a day. I’d wake up, take my medication and go back to sleep. Wake up, take my medication and eat something and go back to sleep. When I finally left the house the leaves were a different colour and the seasons had changed.”

Chloe has since undergone eight different treatments, thirty one rounds of Botox, had multiple nerve blocks, two neuro surgeries and had a nerve stimulator fitted. The nerve stimulator is her last option.

Chloe recognised immediately that what she was going through was related to the vaccine, however she also failed to find anyone else who had had an adverse reaction to the vaccine and survived.

“You could find the odd report of the people who were really unlucky, but I couldn’t find reports of anyone like me who survived. Just. It was unbearable, I repeatedly didn’t want to go on.”

She thought she was totally alone and that had a terrible impact on her mental health. When she finally found UKCVFamily, so much of what Chloe had been through suddenly made sense.

Chloe now volunteers her good hours with UKCVFamily, and is our Second Safe-Guarding lead.

“UKCVFamily is life-changing, life-saving and family. It has given me back a sense of purpose to help others get the help they need"
