Charity Update!

Hi Friends!

It's been a while since we did an proper update so I thought I'd let you all know what the UKCVFamily team have been busy working on behind the scenes..

OUR CAMPAIGN IS RELAUNCHED!

Trustees, Brian and Caroline, have been hard at work, sending out hundreds of emails to affected constituents new MPs. They've already had responses back from some and we're pleased to say, it's full steam ahead.

A new email was designed by Brian and we've been sending out the hard copies of our information pack to those MPs that wish to know more about our charity and our campaign. We've already had feedback that some MPs have been also helping members with their own personal circumstances as well as our wider charity efforts..if you would like to join our campaign please email admin1@ukcvfamily.org

and we can send our letter to your own MP.

To date we have contacted 379 MPs and sent 473 emails ❤️

One of the main aims of UKCVFamily as a charity, is to raise more awareness and help reach others who may be suffering alone. I'm pleased to say that a new advertising campaign is now well underway as a project.

Our very own trustee, Claire has extensive experience in this area as a successful marketing consultant and has worked with international charities and brands.

Claire has designed and delivered special focus groups for those affected that wished to take part and we hope to launch this advertising campaign soon! If you see our ads, please like, share and comment to help us get seen!

WEBSITE

UKCVFamily is in the process of designing a new, more informative and user friendly website. We are hoping to include more information about UKCVFamily and easier ways for people to donate.

We also plan to have a mail subscription service for you all, so that we can keep you informed of all the work we are doing!

FUNDRAISING

UKCVFamily are now partnered with Easyfundraising, eBay, Recycle4Charity, Give as you Live and more.

You can now also set up your own fundraiser for UKCVFamily on FB and Instagram, if you need help, please ask us.

We have our own charity bank account so that donors can now donate directly, some don't like using PayPal so this is a good alternative option.

We have three main areas that we would like to raise funds for at the moment and all of them have been suggested by our charity service users.

1- To fund sessions with a qualified psychologist to help members to be able to cope with medical trauma.

2.- To fund research, a qualitative study regarding our experiences has been designed by researchers from several universities. We want to fund the initial start up phase, which we then hope will enable us to secure a larger funding source.

3- To fund ongoing advertising and content so we can carry on creating posts and adverts. This will help us raise more awareness over different platforms and hopefully find and support more people affected.

If you have any ideas or contributions to make, or you would like to help us with a fundraising project please do get in touch!

LEAFLETS, THANKYOU CARDS AND TRAUMA CARDS

So far UKCVFamily volunteer, David, has sent out 186 of our UKCVFamily Thankyou cards to medical professionals that have been kind and supportive. These cards are really important and we know from feedback that they have been well received.

Nearly 50 packs of UKCVFamily's medical trauma cards have been sent to members by UKCVFamily volunteer, Tracy. These cards are helpful for when presenting at hospital or medical appointments, so that our members don't need to explain why they may feel uneasy or nervous especially if they suffer from medical PTSD.

UKCVFamily volunteer, Victoria, is back to doing the leaflet distribution, so please let us know if you'd like some to place in your local community areas, businesses or workplaces.

ADMIN TEAM

Our wonderful volunteer admin team; Tracy, Megan, Chloe, Megan, Dan, James, Charlotte, Hen, Alex, Lorraine,  Christine, Karen and Lorraine R have been very hard at work. To date we have held 146 zoom events for our support forum members!

They keep our 3 support groups moderated and running and make sure that they stay safe and supportive- without them, we wouldn't have the support groups that help connect the injured and bereaved and make it such a caring community. They are all injured or bereaved themselves, it takes a great effort, which we are so grateful for. Megan answers all the emails from our website which is huge task, so a special shout out and Thankyou to Megan!

BRITISH CENTRE FOR DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

For the last six months we have been working with David Cross from the British Centre for Documentary Photography. He read about us in the Daily Mail, he had never heard of CV injury before. We had a meeting and he was shocked that we weren't getting adequate support.

We invited him to attend the preliminary hearing at the inquiry in May, which he did and he took some photos there and got to meet some of us in person.

He was so overcome with our situation he wanted to go one further and write a big piece about UKCVFamily and our members in the magazine he produces for the Centre.

He travelled to meet some of our members, and they told him about what they had and are going through, Thankyou to all of those people who welcomed David into their homes and lives.

The 11-page article will be available in print in a few weeks time, you can pre order a copy here;

Lastly, I want to thank all of you, without the support of you and our members, we couldn't do what we do, you keep us going!

All of us at UKCVFamily are adversely affected and none of us are paid, giving every spare "good" hour to our cause, we care and we are doing our very best to make sure that we represent our charity in the best way possible.

Thankyou for reading

Love

The UKCVFamily!
